Now for the “PAINFULLY OBVIOUS,” every website administrator should have a basic understanding of Pay-Per-click. But before all the “techmo smechmo” stuff, there is one MAJOR variable to discuss-learning to manage it yourself. Keep in mind, there is a HUGE difference between PPC and SEO (I would strongly recommend hiring an outside agency if you’re looking to zone in on your SEO strategy) “And now back to our regularly scheduled program….”

4 Reasons You Should Learn How to Manage Your Own Pay-Per-Click

1. No One is Going to Care as Much as YOU

When it comes to YOUR business, there is no such thing as putting an important dynamic of your business into the hands of others without taking a risk. Any way you look at it, hiring a company to manage Pay-Per Click means giving up control. You’d be much better off figuring it out yourself. It’s a matter of making the commitment to do so. No one outside your company understands your product and customers better than you; RIGHT? Besides that, you’d be amazed at how much  you can stretch your budget by learning how to manage Pay-Per Click.

It’s not realistic to assume any outside Agency will give your PPC  the attention it needs to yield high impact. How could they? They have a hundred clients just like you and though it hurts to hear, they have other campaigns that pay them more money, which obviously means they prioritize their internet marketing over yours (OH the AUDACITY!!). Yes there will be mistake made at the beginning that cost you money, but you’re not wasting it, you’re merely PAYING to educate yourself on Pay-Per click marketing. It’s never a waste when you make mistakes when climbing the learning curve; is it? Where I’m from, that’s called money well spent. Think of it like this-You’re getting your “MBA” in Pay-Per Click Management.

4. You’re Learning How To Fish

Okay. Now for the Mr. Miyagi part of today’s lesson. “Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, TEACH him to fish and he eats for a lifetime. We’ve all heard this biblical analogy. It’s context is profound. Managing your own pay-per click marketing as opposed to outsourcing it out to another company is the best approach to “fish” for leads and new business when there is a CPC attached.

Not to self: there is a fine line between using Analytics as a measuring point for tracking online behavior as opposed to trying to analyze every indicator under the sun to fit into one “master equation.” Seriously. Keep it as simple as you possibly can. Of course this is easier said than done but you can”t get stuck on seeking out the “end all be all. “You could easily end up checking into a psyche ward if you continue down that path. It’s not rocket science, it’s common sense. Start learning now and welcome the bumps and bruises. A year from now, you’ll want to fly me out and buy me a drink :-) .
