Internet Marketing Pendulum
Internet marketing success comes from creating a pendulum system that swings from organic (permanent placement) back to pay-per click marketing (pay every time your add is clicked) back and fourth. Why use the analogy of a pendulum to describe our marketing strategy? Imagine a pendulum going back and fourth over and over again. It never stops; RIGHT? It just shifts from one direction to another. It’s in constant motion just as your marketing plan should be working for you-in constant motion. Our general rule of thumb is to maintain a 70/30 ratio-70% organic, 30% pay-per click. Some business owners rely on 100% p.p.c. advertising. As with anything, it’s never a good idea to put all your eggs in one basket so if you fall in the this category, you may want to reconsider your approach.
P.P.C. is an effective strategy but it does have some drawback. For example; it’s not the most cost effective way to maximize ROI simply because your paying every time someone clicks your add.
WHY? P.P.C. pricing is calculated by how competitive the keywords or phrases your targeting are. Google analyzes the market and dictates pricing based on competitiveness and dollar value. This means some industry standard keywords are much heftier in cost. You could be paying as much ten to fifty dollars per click depending on how competitive the keywords are. Besides the majority of searches don’t actually become paying customers. See how easily it is to find your marketing budget in the red? Especially when there’s always improvements to be made in becoming a conversion ninja master.
Sometimes the math quite simply doesn’t add up. In this case the ends certainly don’t justify the means as we all want to make the most our of our marketing dollars and very few of us have money to waste. We need to make our strategies work for us rather than against us.
With all this being said by no means should you abandon p.p.c. advertising in your marketing plans. Quite the contrary, the goal is to create a balance between s.e.o. and pay-per click. Remember 70/30 is a good balance to keep the “internet marketing pendulum” swinging .
Now let’s switch our conversation to organic marketing and why long term it is much more efficient.
1. Organic marketing is permanent placement. Of course to do it right it takes a little more investment capital upfront as well as the right experts to administrate the campaign properly but this is where the real ROI turns into predictable reoccurring revenue month in and month out. When you understand it’s benefits you will begin to realize the possibilities and beyond. They really are endless because there are always new keywords and phrases to target and the more you target the more your business will grow!
2. You aren’t paying every time a visitor clicks a link into your website because it’s being done through the natural position of search engine rankings; hence ‘organic’ placement. Of course it’s a strategy is constantly ongoing and once you get to a desired position you will need to perform weekly maintenance to maintain positioning. If you plan on hiring an outside company to perform this than understand you will need to dedicate time with them to perfect the schematics.
Of course the ultimate goal is to keep the internet marketing pendulum swinging in your favor. Hopefully this post provided some insight into helping you perfect the balance in your marketing. Trust when we say it can literally change the direction and altitude in which you’re heading! Thanks and have a great day!!
