Managing the Growth of Your Website and Business
Happy New Year!! It’s been too long since I’ve posted a blog on our website. Things have been a little CRAZY (umm understatement) around here. Today’s topic is an all to familiar one for those who’ve hit a growth spurt within their business.
Managing growth properly within your business is a double edged sword. Sure it’s great to be in a position to bite off more business than you can chew; but at what cost? More business isn’t without it’s growing pains because more to manage, understanding your fulfillment process and maximizing efficiency becomes just as important as the services you represent.
It doesn’t matter what industry you’re in or what services you specialize in. You never really get a chance to put your fulfillment process to the test until things are going crazy and you’ve got a few pissed off clients and customers (and understandably so).
So if you just so happen to be in that predicament, then CONGRATULATIONS!! Your business is beginning a new chapter-managing the growth of your website and business. Don’t fret-this is an inevitable stage of success. Remember there is no growth without falling flat on your ass first.
Here are a few steps to improve the growth of your fulfillment process
1. Be Honest with Yourself and Your Customers
If things go a little awry, make sure you recognize that regardless of circumstances, this is your company, and any mistakes made are your fault, and your fault only. Take accountability to your self and your clients. Everyone’s human and your clients will understand (at least the good ones will)
2. Take inventory
What are your strengths? More importantly what are your weaknesses? Ask your team to help honestly critique how you’ve manged the growth (if they tell you your doing everything right, they’re either lying or too uncomfortable to say how they really feel)
It might sting a bit, but whether you believe it or not, your team knows when things are chaotic, so keeping all of the shortcomings bottled up is by far the wrong way to fix things. Asking a mentor helps, but not if you don’t ask the people on the front lines too. After all, who’s closer to the pulse of your business than the people who work it everyday?
3. If you were your own customer, how would you rate your fulfillment process?
How simple is your purchasing experience? Are there any steps you could shorten? Sometimes it may cut into your margins to make upgrades, but what you lack in margin, you’ll make up for in brand authority and peace of mind.
These three steps alone can make a huge difference in your business model. Of course, they won’t come without their challenges but the end result will make it all worthwhile. Please believe! Our Las Vegas web design team wouldn’t be where we are without the growing pains we made to get us here and your business is no different. Stay consistent and don’t lose sight of the most valuable aspect of being successful-outlasting the growing pains.
