Moving, Shaking or Standing Still?

Happy Holidays from Premier Pixels Las Vegas web design headquarters. Today’s topic has an interesting take. Let’s look at two businesses owners in the same industry Lisa and Paul. Both are photographers in Chicago. Paul has been a photographer for almost twenty years. He is extremely skilled. One of the best in the area in terms of talent but he is frustrated. His business doesn’t seem to be growing. It’s inconsistent. One month will be a good month. The next month seems at a stand still. He can’t seem to figure out what’s missing. Paul knows his worth. He takes great pictures and clients praise his skill. So much in fact that when he does a wedding he is certain to land referrals. His referrals fill up his schedule but he has high aspirations to grow. He recently hired another photographer to divvy out more work but is still frustrated. Now it seems he has just enough work to pay the employee leaving his salary a little light in the pockets. Letting his newly hired photographer go doesn’t feel like a viable option. Paul loves his dedication. It’s hard to find good trustworthy people and he has that in his new hiree. His talent is a little raw but with Paul’s mentoring he can become great. So; Paul is constantly asking himself; ‘what gives?’

Then there is Lisa’s photography business. She is one of the youngest photographers in the Chicago area. Business couldn’t be better. She is growing at a furious rate. Her photography skills aren’t quite on Paul’s level. What she lacks in talent she makes up with being savvy. Her business is only three years old. She already has two full time photographers on staff and even still its hard to keep up. Even she is surprised by the pace in which her business is growing. So what makes her company different than Paul’s?

Think about it-they both offer the same services. Paul has more experience so its safe to say he is more skilled in the field. They are both in the same market. Both have a professional website with all the bells and whistles.  Their pricing is almost identical. Why is Lisa landing more business? What makes her any different than Paul.

One word-VISIBILITY. From the very beginning Lisa’s focus was marketing her website to land new business. From the very beginning her main goal was to give her online presence as much exposure as possible. As soon as her website was ready for traffic-she shifted gears. She sought after some of the most competitive keywords relative to landing as much traffic as possible. She knew if she could just get her site in front  of the right people-she would land business. Her plan has paid off. She is currently ranked in the top three positions on Google. When you type in ‘Chicago Photographer’ or ‘Photographer in Chicago’ there she is.

Get the picture? The only difference between Paul and Lisa is their approach to increasing visibility. These days the true marketing movers in every industry aren’t necessarily the best at what they do. They just understand the power of visibility in S.E.O. and Inbound Marketing.

Our Las Vegas web design team can’t stress this enough. Having a great looking website is merely half the battle. The other half lies in your ability to stay relevant in the search engines. Look and feel will only get you so far. You can have the best looking site in the world. You may offer the highest quality services at the best prices but guess what? If know one knows how to find you-it defeats the whole purpose.

It’s far from rocket science. It never ceases to amaze us when clients can’t comprehend the value of internet marketing. Don’t get us wrong; it isn’t “the end all be all” but when done properly over time the cumulative effect will do wonders for your growth. It is a surefire way to grow exponentially. There is no substitute for effective visibility. Now you might be thinking “I don’t need to market online-I’m growing already.” Good for you. That says a lot about your skill set. But think of it like this-what’s your contingency plan? What happens if all of a sudden there is a slow period for three to four months.? S.E.O. offsets the balance of growth. So when one isn’t moving in the direction you hope for; the other is. Make sense?
