On-Site Optimization 101

Internet Marketing No Comments

Good afternoon from Premier Pixels. Today’s focus is based on how to avoid common on-site optimization mistakes. There is a stigma attached in the world of internet marketing that it takes rocket science. Contrary to belief it’s not. Like anything else it takes effort and a commitment to make all the dynamics work for you rather than against you. Not to say it’s easy, but with the right strategy, over time you can benefit in droves (to say the least). You’d be amazed at how much you can accomplish through a regiment of sound on-site optimization tactics and the difference it can make in your overall rankings.

Which brings us to our food for thought for the day; anchor texts and image woes. Let’s start with anchor texts. What is anchor texts? Anchor text is clickable text in a hyper link form. For example: Premier Pixels is a web design and development specializing in helping businesses enhance their online presence. Having the right anchor text is a key factor in determining what keyword is important to that particular page. So, as you’re building and adding content, when you brush upon a sub topic, be sure to anchor text it properly with a keyword relative to the content on that particular page because it makes a huge difference.

We see so many people make the mistake of using the words “Click Here.” This is doing you a tremendous disservice when your site is indexed. For example if we were to use “click here” in our anchor texts than Google would categorize us with keywords associated to “click here” instead of Premier Pixels thus hindering our internet marketing progress. That doesn’t do us much good; does it? The same applies to you. Unbelievable how simple this is; right? Don’t know about you but it makes me want to quote a line in the classic movie ‘Back To The Future.’

“HELLO, IS ANYONE HOME (knock, knock)? THINK McFLY, THINK!!”

What a great line, and so appropriate, don’t you agree? :-)

Image woes are another easy thing to keep in good standings in the on-site optimization department. Images can play an important role in the look and feel of any website. We all want to have something that stands out from a visual stand point; right?  The only thing is there must be balance. If images dominate a website, than it makes it harder for visitors to download your pages. Not only that but you should never substitute content for the sake of images. Thus the ‘image woe’ rears its unattractive head! Content was, still and will always be king!! These simple errors in judgement can really end up costing you in the long run so be sure to practice these principles as they really do play a vital role, especially if you’re in it for the long haul. Remember internet marketing is not a foot race; it’s a sprint (and a light one at that). Thanks and have a great day!!!

Successfully,
