S.E.O. Good Guys
The life cycle of s.e.o. is still in it’s preemie stages. As a web design an internet marketing firm it’s important to maintain a high level of integrity. This post is for all the seasoned s.e.o. companies. As the wheels of commerce turn its becoming common knowledge that s.e.o. is no longer an option but more of a necessity. Like any large and lucrative industry, the ability to make substantial money in our field has a way of attracting a very small amount of individuals who at best would be considered shady (thats putting it mildly). These unethical practices hurt the industry as a whole and need to be weeded out as they cripple us all.
Here is the most profound example of how a few bad seeds can effect us all-After the tragedy of 9/11, the general consensus of most was to blame the religion of Islam for the catastrophic events that devastated our great nation. This lead to a prejudice perception of anyone who was of the Muslim faith. Sadly, it painted a very inaccurate depiction of an entire group of people. Many blamed Muslims when statistically Muslim extremists don’t even represent one tenth of one percent of the religion. The point is the incomprehensible actions of a few deemed over a billion people as terrorists.
This may seem like an extreme example and in no way is it my intentions to offend anyone. The point is in our industry the actions of a few can hurt the s.e.o. good guys. There are some great s.e.o. companies in the market place Premier Pixels being one of them. A long with the upstanding web design and internet marketing companies there will always be some who practice methods unbecoming.
It is easy for us in the industry to recognize the differences between the quality firms as opposed to the ones to stay away from. The problem is the average business owner doesn’t. Especially seeing that most companies are just now starting to familiarize themselves with the benefits of internet marketing. They don’t know what red flags to look for. This is where individual companies in our field must ban together and form an alliance to weed out the impostors. Forget landing the business for the sake of your benefit. This is where the rubber meets the road.
“Time either promotes you or exposes you”- Companies taking short cuts are ruffling the feathers of the likes of Google. These practices may not hurt you today or tomorrow but karma will catch up as it inevitably always does. We have an obligation to protect the integrity of not only our industry but more importantly-our consumers. Thanks to all the web design and s.e.o.companies who put principles before paychecks.
