Social Networking Vulnerability 101
Good afternoon from Premier Pixels Las Vegas website design company. Today’s topic is based on understanding the trappings of certain internet marketing strategies and how to avoid them. One of the scariest aspects of business is leaving your company vulnerable. The purpose of today’s blog is to help you differentiate solid internet marketing from being counterproductive. First things first; there is no such thing as a ‘perfect path’ in internet marketing. You will make mistakes. There will be set backs. Thats the beauty of business. Mistakes in business are no different than mistakes in life. Its not the mistakes you make but rather how you learn from them. The definition of stupidity is making the same mistake twice. Appreciate the journey and embrace the bumps in the road. They will shape your foundation.
#1-Social Networking-The social networking craze has reached a feverish pitch. There is no doubt these platforms are a great way to network. Any business worth their salt has a Facebook or Twitter account but there is a huge misconception that social networking is the ‘end all be all’ to grow your business. “Yes” it is a valuable tool and should be added to your marketing arsenal. Add the fact its free makes it practical to most entrepreneurs but the mistake many make is to assume you can leverage the majority of advertising and marketing through social networking. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Yes you can leverage all of your online advertising through viral marketing; if you’re Gatorade or Nike (even they don’t). The point is the more established your business is the more you can use these sites as primary means but until then; stick to the basics. These platforms provide great marketing power if they’re combined with other plans of action. Our Las Vegas website design and internet marketing team uses the following analogy to describe social networking.
If Facebook was a refreshment it would be a coke. Now; if you just got done running a marathon which would be the first cup you would grab at the finish line; a cup of water or a cup of coke? Chances are it would be the water. Why? Because water is much more refreshing and quenches your thirst; right? After a few cups of ice water; the coke would be ‘the icing on the cake.’
Its the exact same with social networking. It makes for a nice added bonus to further reinforce what you’re already doing. However if you just use Facebook as a means to market; eventually you will end up on the side of the road dying of thirst. It should be treated as an added bonus not as your sole source of hydration. Whether you’re a new business or been around a while; our Las Vegas website design company teaches a very ‘easy to follow’ system to clients on how to properly harness the power of social networking. Give us a call and speak with one of our marketing executives today. Thanks and have a great day!
