Mark of a Leader-1
Believe it or not, when a mistake is made, the best way to diffuse the situation is to take accountability. One of the most overlooked aspects of running a successful business is being accountable. Ask any strong leader and they will tell you that when a mistake is made or something is overlooked, they hold themselves one hundred percent responsible. A real leader doesn’t play the blame game nor do they look for a ‘fall guy’ to pin the miscue on. Of course being accountable is a road less traveled because it takes a willingness to admit a mistake was made and unfortunately, most people aren’t willing to travel down that path. It’s much easier to place the blame on someone else.
Our Las Vegas web design company has made it’s fair share of mistakes and we have always been upfront about it. Making mistakes is just as much a part of business as the little victories in between. Just as we all make mistakes in life, a mistake in business is never in vein if there’s a lesson learned (message:-))).
From top to bottom leading by example is the only way to instill strong leaders throughout your company. We all aspire to be great in business, and although the technical aspect of your field of expertise is important, the leadership qualities you adopt will mold strong leadership qualities throughout your company. Although it sounds a little cliche, it starts at the top.
Regardless of what stage you’re at in your business, it’s never too late to work on being a better leader. There are many characteristics of a good leader. Here are a few qualities our Las Vegas web design has come to recognize in good leadership….
Listen More- We’ve all heard the saying-”you have two ears and one mouth for a reason.” A good leader always listens first and speaks second. Your ability to listen to your team and your customers will make you a much more powerful communicator. It’s easier said than done, but it starts by simply being disciplined and letting others speak first.
Ask the Right Questions- Anyone can ask questions, but are you asking the right questions? In order to get to the root, you have to dig. Ever sit down for a meeting and when you get up, you feel like there wasn’t any progress? It’s easy to say this person just doesn’t get it. That’s placing the blame on them. Maybe you aren’t asking the right questions.
Duplicate- The art of duplication is parallel to the level of success you achieve within your business. It’s far from easy but duplication is the difference between you running a business as opposed to the business running you. The hardest part about duplication is finding the right team to build with. Good people are hard to come by but they are more valuable than words can say. It only takes one good person to begin duplicating yourself. Once you duplicate one person, then teach them how to duplicate person, and so fourth and so on (get the point?).
This is just some food for thought from Premier Pixels Las Vegas web design team to all you entrepreneurs on the grind. Remember, behind every successful business lies a strong leader making the wheels spin. Stay tuned tomorrow for part 2……Thanks and have a great day!!
