Website Redesign Misconceptions
Good morning from Premier Pixels Las Vegas web design headquarters. Lately our phones have been getting a steady stream of inquiries in regards to launching website redesigns. There seems to be a misperception to what a client actually hopes to accomplish with a redesign. The general notion is a redesign is the ‘end all be all.’ In other words; whatever’s wrong with the business can be fixed with a nice crisp new redesign.
Doesn’t every business owner wish it were that simple!? Just change the appearance and navigation of the site and the money will come pouring in! Give it a fresh face, slap a new logo up and you will have a cash cow on your hands! Better yet the more sophisticated the appearance, the more chances of success!!! As Doc Holiday said in the movie Tombstone-”very cosmopolitan.” The fact is a sophisticated looking site with little to no traffic and conversion is really all you have; a sophisticated LOOKING site (emphasis on the word ‘looking’).
From our experience when we get approached for a redesign, nine times out of ten the look and feel of the site is the least of the businesses problems. This is precisely why our Las Vegas web design company has a standard protocol to evaluate from the outside looking in. When we do so we evaluate one thing, and one thing only-VISIBILITY. What keywords does this website rank for (if any)? What is their page rank? Usually two thoughts come to mind
1. They aren’t anywhere close to being on the first page for keywords relative to landing them new and consistent business.
2. Instead of spending X,Y, and Z for a redesign why not invest in S.E.O.?
You’re investment would be much better utilized in marketing as opposed to a new site. Unless your website looks prehistoric, than chances are you need more visibility. As long as it functions properly and is positioned to increase revenue than invest in marketing. This isn’t to say that you shouldn’t aim towards a redesign in the near future. How about generating a stream of leads, converting those leads into paying customers, than allocating the additional revenues to complete a redesign? You starting to see a theme here? Ask yourself; is a redesign really a game changer or could I benefit more from landing new business first? If a redesign is in the cards, than great! Holding it off six months to invest in S.E.O. would prove much more beneficial.
As stated earlier, our protocol for a redesign inquiry is to help the potential client fine tune their goals and figure out what they’re really trying to accomplish as well as the current state of their business. We then conduct an extensive market analysis (free of charge) on the site and crunch numbers with you. Side by side, dollar for dollar, together we team up and decide which direction is more suited to increase the bottom line-landing business. More often than not, a redesign inquiry ends up becoming more S.E.O. suited. Our Las Vegas web design company understands your need to fine tune direction. Ultimately the most important thing is your success. With that being said; we are committed to help you every step of the way. Thanks and have a great day!!
